CP’s parent brand identity changes

IMS Group rebrands as CP Global
CP Group’s parent company announces new name and logo

SAN DIEGO, CA (Sept. 9, 2014) – CP Global, the umbrella brand for CP Group (CP Manufacturing, Krause Manufacturing, MSS, and Advanced MRF), IMS Electronics, IMS Recycling, and Handy Metal Mart, is proud to announce the debut of its new name and logo.

cp global

Formerly known as IMS Group, CP Global is a group of related companies under common ownership involved in various recycling and waste management industries. The rebrand to CP Global more accurately reflects the status and direction of the family of companies.

“We chose to integrate CP into our new and modernized corporate umbrella brand. Thanks to the success of CP Manufacturing and the CP Group of companies, CP’s brand has international name recognition, competitive market share, and a truly global customer base. We are leveraging CP’s brand recognition with this change, as it is our largest and most well-known entity,” says Ashley Davis, Marketing Manager of CP Global.

“The new logo contains the same orbit found in the CP Group logo— symbolic of a blue planet and a green movement. The word ‘global’ encompasses our various brands while also reflecting our international reach and asserting our commitment to environmental sustainability,” Davis continues.

The companies that make up CP Global go back 60 years. IMS Recycling, founded by Charles M. Davis in 1954, is the oldest company under the CP Global brand. Davis went on to found Handy Metal Mart in 1964 and CP Manufacturing in 1977. In 1999, IMS Electronics Recycling was formed for the special handling needs of electronic waste.

In 2003, CP Manufacturing acquired MSS and CP Group was born. CP Group went on to acquire Krause Manufacturing in 2004, IPS Balers in 2007 (which was acquired by Avis Industries in August 2014, opening the door for CP Group to become a strategic international distributor for their lines of balers), and Advanced MRF in 2012.

“As the industry continues to evolve, so do we,” says Bob Davis, CEO of CP Global. “Being a leader in the recycling industry requires teamwork, planning, and careful strategy. Our companies operate with a synergy that enables us to work seamlessly together, achieving more than the sum of our parts. The CP Global brand emphasizes this unity.”

Advance Disposal Co. opens 50tph MSW MRF in California

CP Group upgrades existing MSW MRF

HESPERIA, CA, August 27, 2014 – Advance Disposal Company, Inc., a privately owned hauler and MRF operator in Southern California, reopened their newly upgraded MSW MRF featuring equipment and design by CP Group .The grand opening ceremony was held at the end of May.

CP Group worked with Advance Disposal to redesign and retrofit their 21- year old MRF sorting system, which previously handled 20TPH, to now process 50TPH. The MRF is now operating on one extended shift instead of two due to the increased throughput.

Municipal Solid Waste MRF

Municipal Solid Waste MRF

“Twenty years ago, Advance Disposal constructed one of the first mixed material processing MRFs in California. When we needed to upgrade, we turned to CP Group because of their experience in mixed waste processing, and ability to integrate the new equipment into our existing system and floor space. They did a fine job of planning the installation so that we were able to continue operations with a minimum of down time,” says Sheila Bath, President of Advance Disposal.

CP Group decommMSW Recyclingissioned the old equipment which included an infeed conveyor and shaker screen, while leaving the sort station to be reused in the new system. Advance continued to operate the existing system while the new machinery was installed. Operation shutdown time was minimal due to creative design and strategic project planning by the CP Group, and an innovative transitional operations plan by Advance.

The new equipment installed to increase the system throughput and boost material recovery levels includes the CP Metering Drum, CP Trommels, Overbelt Magnets, CP Scalping Screen, CP GlassBreaker Screen, 2 CPScreens with proprietary cam-disc screening technology, Eddy Current Separator, and a Fines Trommel.

“Advance Disposal is a leader in MSW processing and are forward thinkers when it comes to efficiently utilizing the products obtained from the CP System. They are strong in their end user niche and continuously evolving their business model,” says Josh Wagner, CP Project Manager.

IPS Balers, Inc. is a manufacturer of ferrous, non-ferrous, plastics, and mixed fiber balers. IPS has been providing balers and conveyors to the recycling industry for nearly two decades. Since 2008, IPS was a part of the CP Group of Companies, an international manufacturer of material recovery facilities and equipment including disc screens, trommels, optical sorters and other material separation and recovery equipment.

With this acquisition, IPS becomes the third baler company in the Avis Industrial holdings and joins The American Baler Co. and The Harris Waste Management Group, Inc. Avis subject companies manufacture and sell shears, shredders, and compactors among other products in the recycling industry.

Leland Boren, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Avis Industrial states, “We are pleased to add IPS to our baler manufacturing companies. The features that are exclusive to IPS machines, including the pre-compression lids, hinge sides, and bale-tie two rams, are innovative and allow us to meet the requirements of even more customers in the recycling industry.”

In conjunction with this sale, Avis Industrial is pleased to announce the naming of CP as a strategic international distributor, authorizing CP to sell all of the Avis lines of balers.

“Six years ago, CP acquired IPS to offer customers a complete package to our sort systems. Now, as a distributor for Avis, we will be able to offer our customers even more baler solutions. CP looks forward to a long and mutually beneficial business relationship with Avis,” says CP President, Terry Schneider.

Avis says in turn, they will have direct access to CP sorting systems, including industry-leading disc screens and optical sorters, among other MRF equipment components. Boren concludes, “We are excited about future opportunities with CP, leveraging their MRF equipment and design solutions within our network.”

Schneider and Boren jointly stated they believe the global recycling industry is in its infancy. The requirements and interest in sustainability and finding solutions to reduce waste and landfills have increased enormously.
